# Governance

BART Protocol's governance model is community-driven and decentralized, allowing token holders to propose and vote on changes to the protocol. Key aspects of the governance model include:

**Proposal Submission**: Any token holder can submit a proposal for changes or upgrades to the protocol. Proposals are recorded on-chain.

**Voting**: Token holders can vote on proposals. The voting power is determined by the number of BART tokens they hold.

**Timelocks**: To prevent sudden and disruptive changes, there may be timelocks on certain proposals, ensuring that changes are gradually implemented.

**Multisig**: The governance multisig, controlled by trusted community members, may oversee the execution of proposals for added security and decentralization.

**Fees**: Fees generated from trading and other platform activities are distributed to liquidity providers, incentivizing users to provide liquidity. A portion of these fees may be used to buy back and burn BART tokens, reducing the token supply over time and potentially increasing its value.
